Landing at wrong Airport Empty
PostSubject: Landing at wrong Airport   Landing at wrong Airport EmptySun Dec 30, 2012 9:11 pm

NOTAM:

Flight crews:

Just a reminder that if you land at the wrong airport.... sunny NLA pays the transport fees to get the AC to the right one. Pilots DO NOT take a hit

To put this into perspective... Today, we paid... and this is no embellishment, slightly over $10 MILLION dollars in transport fees. We also had $6M in destroyed landing gear. In fact the 747F was no longer airworthy due to 101% damage for bad landings, Flaps and gear down at over 350knts etc..... (all in the last 4 days)

What we require is simple. If you know you have accidentally landed at the wrong airport, OR, ripped off flaps or landing gear....and I myself have done this, DO NOT close the flight... Exit out of VAFS. The next flight you be asked to delete this flight... please do so....

Flight Crew cooperation is greatly appreciated as usual... Have concerns? Please PM me... Thanks!

To clarify/expand on Jeff's remarks: when you do one of these things, DO NOT shut down the engines! Uncheck the full-screen view in FS, bring up the VAFS screen, and cancel the flight. Once you shut down the engines, VAFS records the flight, so if you need a 'do-over', just reduce/minimize FS and cancel the flight in VAFS.

The other issue is sometimes we do not know there is anything wrong until the flight is processed. At this Point I do not know If anything can be done in VAFS

We can't do much about VAFS-related malfunctions, but we can ensure proper system utilization, control our airspeeds, navigate properly, etc. Watch your OATs to avoid icing, plan your descents, control your airspeed. Plan your flights so you have a good one. Avigate, navigate, communicate, in that order.
